About

Find economic data from Japan and around the world, and turn it straight into charts.

Economic Data Square

What Economic Data Square is

Economic statistics published by the World Bank and by Japanese government bodies, collected in one place so you can search them and chart them straight away. Pick indicators, draw them as lines, bars or scatter plots, and export the result as an image.

Figures are stored exactly as each body published them. Revisions are kept as well, so you can look back at what the estimate was at any point in time.

Statistics are shown in English only where the publisher provides an English name. Where no official English name has been confirmed, the Japanese name is shown as published — we do not distribute machine-translated names of statistics.

About the beta

This site is currently in beta. The site has only just launched, so features and screens will keep changing, and some figures or labels may still be wrong.

If you spot a display error, an inconsistency in the data, or something awkward to use, please write to info@aidotters.com.

What is planned

Everything on this site is free to use. Image exports (with a watermark) are free, and so is saving charts and arranging them on your own dashboard, up to a limited number. Deeper chart customisation, overlaying your own data, and exporting to Excel or PowerPoint are coming soon in our sister product, Chart Atelier.

How often data is updated

Data is re-fetched from every source at 9:30 JST each morning: all sources on Mondays, and on other days the market data that moves daily (interest rates and exchange rates) plus statistics that are only updated when something new is published. How often each statistic itself is published varies — daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually — so check the “data as of” stamp on a chart for the latest point.

Disclaimer

This site collects, processes and displays statistics published by the bodies listed above. It does not guarantee that the figures are accurate, complete or up to date.

For investment or any other decisions, please check the original publication from the body concerned and decide at your own responsibility. This site is not intended to provide investment advice.

When using the data, please follow the terms set by each source.
